I am Dr. Cheryl P. Washington, a nationally board-certified Family Practitioner and Graduate School Professor.  While I am very proud of my academic and professional accomplishments, the title of which I am most proud, and that has been the most rewarding, is MOTHER.

I became a mom at the young age of 16. As a high school junior, I was terrified. I had no idea  how I would raise a child. After all, I was still a child myself.

25 years and 3 children later, I proclaim victory. What I learned along my journey is that if I could do it, anyone can.

I hope that through my transparency you are encouraged to give this new role your all. God definitely does not make mistakes. He’s given you his most precious possession, HIS child. I won’t promise that it will be easy, but you can, and will, do this!

Remember, being young doesn’t mean that you’re incapable.
